The Gary Sinise Foundation is an organization that is devoted to helping United States Military veterans and their families. The foundation, which was started by Forrest Gump actor Gary Sinise, just released a year-end video that is sure to bring tears to your eyes!

“Family. We share our joy with them; we count on them in troubled times,” Sinise says at the start of the video. “So many of us have been inspired by the service of a relative whose sacrifices motivate us to do more, to be more. When family is not limited by the bonds blood or name, it is shaped by the stories we share, the freedoms we cherish, and the nation we love and defend.”

The video goes on to say that we should all treat veterans, first responders, and their loved ones like family.

“Our mission is to honor our defenders, veterans, first responders and always their loved ones who sacrifice alongside them. Because that’s what you do for family,” Sinise said.

The video takes an emotional turn when veterans and their families start talking about how much their lives changed in 2018 thanks to the foundation.

“I was most looking forward to a home that I could truly raise my family in,” said one wounded veteran who had a custom-made home built for him. Later in the video, a young girl who lost a family member in the military and a military widow talk about attending a trip to Walt Disney World in early December for loved ones who lost a service member.

“I think it lets kids know that they’re not the only people that have experienced things like these,” said one young girl, with a mother adding, “Being around the others who I know have been through the same thing, it made me open up and kinda come out of my shell a little.”

The video ends with viewers being encouraged to do whatever they can to help veterans and their families.

“While we can never do enough for our defenders, veterans, first responders, and the loved ones who sacrifice right alongside them, we can always do a little more,” Sinise said.

Check out the video for yourself below, and please do whatever you can to help veterans in 2019!
