Bullying is a serious issue that affects millions of children in this country. That’s why when Matt Cox learned that his 10 year-old daughter was bullying others, he immediately took action.

The father from Swanton, Ohio has found himself becoming a viral sensation after he uploaded a video to the internet showing himself making his daughter walk to school as a punishment for bullying. Some have applauded Matt for his parenting style, while others have accused him of bullying his daughter.

Matt first learned of his daughter Kirsten’s bullying ways when she was kicked off the school bus for a few days. Matt decided to punish her by making her walk to school as he drove behind her, making sure that she was safe.

“I know a lot of you parents are not going to agree with this and that’s all right. I am doing what I think is right to teach my daughter a lesson to stop her from bullying,” he said. “Lesson learned. Still has all her extremities intact is happy and healthy and seems to have a new outlook on bullying as well as a new appreciation for some of the simple things in life she used to take for granted.”

Though some people have disagreed with what he did, Matt firmly stands by it.

“Parents need to hold their kids accountable,” he said. “So that was me showing how I hold my kid accountable. I’m not going to be another parent that’s just going to brush things under the rug and say, ‘Kids will be kids.'”
