Elephants can be extremely social and emotional, but there is something about them that you probably don’t know about. They are obsessed with music! Elephants have been known to link trunks and sway to the music when they hear it playing, especially if it is their caretaker singing them a lullaby. The elephant Faa Mai is a perfect example of this.

Faa Mai is an Indian elephant that has been living at the Elephant Nature Park in northern Thailand since she was a young calf. The founder and caretaker at the facility is Lek Chailert. Lek has been singing to Faa Mai since she was tiny and the two have developed an unbreakable bond. Although Faa Mai is 9-years-old, Lek still sings to her to calm her down.

The facility has recently rescued a new baby elephant named Thong Ae and Faa Mai has fallen in love with the new addition. That’s why she turned to her caretaker to be sure the baby got the same loving attention that she gets.

In the video below, Faa Mai uses her trunk to steer Lek towards her tiny little friend. Any time Lek would try to go off course, Faa Mai would use her trunk to get her back on course. Finally, when she arrived to where Thong Ae was at, Faa Mai looked into Lek’s eyes and waited on her to start singing. Lek says she knew immediately what she had been brought to the baby for.

Because Faa Mai is so fond of being sung to, and because she cares so much for Thong Ae, she wanted her little friend to hear the same lullabies that Lek sings to her.

Check out the adorable video below and be sure to share this heartwarming interaction between the elephants and their caretaker with your family and friends.
