When the holidays come around each year one of the things we start making is a list of things that we want for Christmas. But there is one question we likely don’t think about as we go about our shopping.

What does God want for Christmas? That’s probably not something many of us think about, but there is one singer, Darius Rucker who is out to answer that question with his song “What God Wants for Christmas.”

Over the holidays we tend to lose sight of what really matters at Christmas time. We worry about finding the perfect gift, preparing the most delicious dinner, and wrapping the most beautiful gifts. But when it really comes down to it, none of that is the most important part of Christmas, and it is certainly not what God wants for Christmas. He wants something much more meaningful.

Rucker wants to bring Christ back into the center of this celebratory season. His song is a tribute to God and truly comes from his soul. Fans couldn’t agree more with his message as the song has shot up to the top of the charts.

So what does God really want for Christmas? Darius says the true meaning of this wonderful season is God’s gift of His Son. He says we need to put each other and Him first and put away all the lavish gifts.
