A woman named Loreta Frankonyte was out for a walk one day when she came upon a large black-colored Newfoundland dog. The dog appeared to be forlorn and barely moved when she walked up to him, so Loretta called the animal rescue group Hope For Paws to come and get the animal.

Before the rescue workers got to the scene, Loretta fed the dog pieces of a cheeseburger. All was going well until Loreta slipped a leash on the dog, which caused the canine to panic and back away.

Hope For Paws workers finally picked up the dog and brought him back to their facility, where they named him Everest. There, Everest was given a shower, after which he immediately fell asleep. It was clear to rescue workers that Everest had once been someone’s pet based on the friendly way he interacted with adults and children alike.

Workers at the shelter were stunned when they received the perfect adoption application for Everest shortly after he was ready for a forever home. His forever family lives in Oregon, and rescue workers traveled with Everest on the two and a half hour flight there from Los Angeles.

Everest was ecstatic to meet his new forever family, which includes two four-legged siblings named Bonnie and Clyde. As a California dog, Everest had never seen snow before, and his reaction to it is priceless!

We’re so glad to see that Everest’s story had a happy ending, and we wish him many years of happiness with his forever family!
