Most professional athletes use their hefty first paychecks to splurge on something for themselves. That’s why it’s warming the hearts of internet users everywhere that one young baseball player just used his enormous first paycheck to help his parents in a huge way!

Pavin Smith was the seventh overall pick in this year’s baseball draft, and the 21 year-old ended up signing with the Arizona Diamondbacks. As soon as he signed, Pavin was given a large $5 million bonus.

Most young men would have used this money to buy a mansion, a new car, or simply to party with friends. Pavin, however, decided to do something very different with it.

Pavin, who is a first baseman, wrote a touching letter to his parents in which he surprised them by revealing that he would be paying off their mortgage with his bonus!

“Thank you for raising me in a great home filled with love,” he wrote. “Because of all the sacrifices you made to get me where I am, I want our family home to be yours.”

Though this is a huge gesture, Pavin said that it does not even compare to all of the things that his parents had done for him. The reaction of his parents to this letter has quickly gone viral, touching the hearts of people all over the world.

God bless Pavin for using his newfound fame to help his parents in such a beautiful way!
