Social media has completely changed the world, and it’s truly amazing what people can do with it. Though there are some ways that social media divides us, it also can bring us together in a way that nothing else does.

The power of social media was shown once again this past week when a woman took to Twitter to try and find the cruise “best friend” she had met as a child during a vacation in 2006.

It all started when Mississippi native Brianna, who has the Twitter handle Briannacry, posted a photo on Twitter showing herself as a child wearing a lei garland alongside another girl in a blue floral dress, asking for help finding her. Though she could not remember the girl’s name, she said that she missed her and wanted to find her.

Within hours, California artist Heidi responded with a photo of herself holding a photo from that same cruise as proof of who she was.

“I heard you were looking for me,” she wrote.

Twitter users everywhere were touched by the tweets and were overjoyed that Heidi was found!

“Oh my god!! This is amazing!! I am crying right now!!” one user wrote, with another adding, “Y’all found her wtf! Twitter is literally amazing.”

“I love the internet,” wrote a third.

Heidi confirmed afterwards that while she can’t afford to fly to visit Brianna, they are talking via direct message. It seems this could be the new beginning of a wonderful friendship!
