For many of us, winter means cozy nights curled up by the fire with our loved ones. For homeless people, however, winter is when they have to find adequate shelter from the bitter cold.

That’s why many Americans are hailing this vending machine as such a great idea!

A vending machine in Muncie, Indiana is handling out supplies to the 200 homeless people in the area free of charge. To get access to the vending machine, they simply have to register with community services. They are given tokens to use the vending machine as soon as they register, and they are able to use these tokens to get blankets, clothing, and other basic winter necessities.

The contents of the vending machine were donated by members of the community who wanted to help the homeless get through the brutal winter.

“We know that they are out there. Some are in shelters, some are in different living situations,” said Karee Buffin with the Bridges Community Services Fund. “We really want to use something like this to reach out to people. It does demonstrate that our community cares.”

Buffin went on to praise members of the community for the amount of supplies that they donated.

“That speaks about the community that we live in,” she said.

Many are saying that vending machines like this one should be all over the United States to help the homeless get through the winter. Find out more about this in the video below!
