Queen Elizabeth is known for being a meticulously healthy eater who chooses her meals from a red leather bound book that is prepared by her royal chef. After being handed the book, she crosses out anything that she does not want and marks down what she would like before handing it back to the chef.

After a recent meal, however, the Queen had something else to hand her chef that undoubtedly left him stunned.

When the Queen was served a salad this past week, she found a dead slug in it. Undeterred, the Queen tore a page out of her red book and placed the slug on it along with a note that read, “I found this in the salad – could you eat it?”

It certainly can never be said that the Queen does not have a sense of humor!

Darren McGrady, a former royal chef who spent fifteen years working for the Queen, revealed over the summer that the monarch hates non-organic foods and that she will reject anything that is not in season.

“Try including strawberries on the menu in January and she’ll scrub out the line and say don’t dare send me genetically modified strawberries,” he said. “She absolutely does eat seasonal.”

He went on to say that the Queen typically “eats to live” choosing healthy and clean dishes such as steamed or grilled fish with vegetables. Perhaps the slug was a tad too organic for her!

It’s always fun when we get a rare glimpse at the humorous side of Queen Elizabeth!
