Singer Josh Groban has just released a powerful new song called “River,” which he is hoping will inspire people who are going through something difficult in life to find hope.

After beginning the song by explaining the doubts and fears that people have, Groban builds to an uplifting chorus.

“So I walk down to the river,
Where the troubles, they can’t find me,
Let the waters there remind me,
The sun will be there when we wake,
I walk down to the river,
Though I might not understand it,
It’s not always as we planned it,
But we grow stronger when we break,
So I walk down to the river,
I walk down to the river”

Groban explained that “River” is a “really personal song.” The music video portrays Groban as a man who is going through some hard times before finding comfort in the river.

“For people who suffer from anxiety, suffer from depression, suffer from those things, it can feel very isolating…when you go there and write about those things, you realize you’re actually not alone,” he said. “Everybody to a certain degree, goes through those kind of things. ”

The song is very reminiscent of a bible verse that describes the river as a place of hope.

“God’s blessings are like a river. They fill the city of God with joy. That city is the holy place where the Most High God lives.” Psalm 46:4

It’s so refreshing to see a star like Groban using his platform to try and uplift others with his music!
