Sometimes when animals are found on the streets, their chances of recovering from the bad situation they came from don’t seem to be very good. That is the case with one young cat named Keta.

Keta was found on the streets of New York City with a huge tumor protruding from her face. Although her rescuers thought her chances of survival were slim, they immediately took her to an animal shelter.

At the shelter it was determined that Keta’s condition was much too severe for treatment. She had trouble eating, seeing, and even breathing was a problem for her due to the tumor.

Although the shelter agreed that she needed to be put down, they put her up for adoption just in case someone might want to adopt her and try to treat her condition.

Luckily, Keta caught the attention of Kristin Livan, the vice-president of the non-profit organization Unwanted NYC Pets. The organization takes care of animals that other people don’t want and gives them a second chance at life.

When Kristin saw Keta, she says it was one of the worst cases she’d ever seen, but still, the organization worked to raise the money needed for Keta to have surgery to remove the tumor.

Miraculously, within five days of the removal of the tumor, Keta was up and running, drinking and eating, and playing like a regular cat. Her wound healed quickly and it wouldn’t be long before she’d be ready for adoption.

Right before Christmas, Keta was ready to go to a new home. The organization listed her as available in hopes that she’d have a new home for Christmas, and that’s exactly what happened.

Keta now has a forever home that will give her the love and care that she deserves. What an amazing story! Be sure to share this rescue tale with your family and friends.
