People are used to seeing various types of ornaments on Christmas trees. These typical ornaments include mangers, reindeer, elves, and snowman. However, one ornament has been catching people off guard, which is why we want to explain it’s origins!

If you see a spider in someone’s Christmas tree, it’s not because they would rather it be Halloween. Instead, this is a tradition that comes from either Germany or Ukraine, and it goes back for generations!

The story behind this tradition goes like this. A widow was living with her children in a small hut, and they were very poor. Before Christmas one year, her kids saw that a pine cone had fallen and a new tree was growing. They were very excited at the prospect of having their very own Christmas tree that year.

The children took care of the tree as it grew, and it finally came time to cut it down so that they could bring it inside. While they were happy to get it into their house, they were saddened that they had no money to decorate it. The widow was sad that her children were disappointed by the plain tree standing in their home.

The spiders living in the hut were heartbroken to hear the children crying over the tree, so they stepped in to help! They worked all night spinning webs on the tree, making beautiful silky decorations!

The children were stunned when they woke up and saw what the spiders had done! It ended up being the best Christmas ever for the family, and since then, people have been putting spiders in their trees to give thanks to these creatures. It’s symbolic of gratitude for the smallest things we’re blessed with.

If you’re looking for a new type of Christmas ornament to put up this year, look no further than these spiders!
