In recent years, avocados have become a very popular addition to numerous different meals. Avocados are seen as a healthy snack because they are full of vitamins like potassium, vitamin B5, vitamin B6, vitamin C, vitamin K, and vitamin E.

To make it even easier for you to enjoy avocados, we’ve found a way that you can make them at home, and it’s surprisingly simple!

The first step to this is to sprout your avocado seed.

Clean the avocado before sticking four toothpicks into the seed, each at equal distance and about halfway down from the top. Once you have done this, place the seed into a cup of water. Use the toothpicks to keep the seed soaking in an inch of water, with the dimpled end facing down.

Leave the cup with the seed inside it someplace warm that is not in direct sunlight. Leave the seed this way for two to six weeks, or until you see roots and a stem start to sprout. When you notice that the stem has  reached six inches long from your seed, cut it back to about three inches.

Next, it’s time to plant the avocado!

Get a pot that is about ten inches in diameter and fill it with a nutrient-rich soil. Make a tiny hole in the center of the soil and plant the seed so that it’s roots are at the bottom and the top half of seed is exposed to the air. Water the avocado regularly, and if you notice that the leaves have begun to turn yellow or droop, leave the avocado alone for a little bit to give it time to dry out.

If you continue watering your avocado regularly, you’ll soon have a little avocado tree!

The next step is to enjoy your avocado! It really is that simple!
