As a child, you enjoy summer break and look forward to going outside and playing and exploring. But you never expect to find anything terribly unusual. That wasn’t the case for one 9-year-old Indiana girl.

Elysia Laub had stepped outside her Lowell, Indiana, home to play in her backyard when she heard something in the bushes. The family has pigs and so Elysia just assumed one of the pigs had gotten out and into the bushes.

But what she found was definitely not a pig. It was a human baby. At first, she thought it was a doll, but then it moved and cried. That’s when she went running for her mom.

Her mom, Heidi Laub, came rushing outside and discovered that it indeed was a human baby. The placenta and umbilical cord were still attached. She sent Elysia to call 911 and then scooped the baby up and carried it inside.

Emergency responders came and are now calling the baby “Miracle Baby Jane Doe.” Elysia has been called her guardian angel, but Elysia says she didn’t find the baby by herself. God helped her.

Luckily, the baby girl is doing just fine. She had a bit of a sunburn, but other than that, she will be okay. Officials estimate she was less than a day old when Elysia found her.

The baby’s mother was later found out to be a young teen from the area, but due to her age, her name isn’t being released. Heidi says the mom needs prayers and probably isn’t a bad person, but a very scared girl.
