Michael Buble is widely considered to be one of the best singers in music today, and while he has gotten to do many things throughout his career, he recently got to cross something off his bucket list that he’d been dreaming of since he was a child when he had the opportunity to sing with the legendary Barbra Streisand.

When Barbra asked Michael to perform “It Had To Be You” with her, he immediately jumped at the chance!

In the video below, you’ll see the two singers meet for the first time, and Michael tries to break the ice by telling a joke.

“This is the cheapest recording session I’ve ever had… because you’re paying for it!” Michael joked.

Michael then confided to the camera crew that Barbra had been his favorite singer ever since he could remember.

“I was just so honored to be asked to do it,” he said. “And the company that I’m in is incredible company to be keeping. I just wanted to show up and not let her down.”

Sensing that Michael was nervous, Barbra said that she wanted to use his big band style to make him more comfortable.

“Michael is a big band singer,” she said. “So I thought, why not start it as a ballad and then have the big band take over… You can just tell by his attitude, his voice, his freedom, his sense of self. We can play [with the sound].”

Barbra made sure that an orchestra was there to perform with them live, explaining that she would never have it any other way!

“This is the way I’ve always recorded,” Barbra said. “Since my first album. I’ve recorded with an orchestra. It’s so much fun! I get inspired by what the orchestra’s playing and it makes me do other things that I haven’t thought of until that moment singing with them.”
