A woman in Brisbane, Australia was shocked last week when she discovered a sneaky snake hiding in her very messy sewing room.

Snake Catchers were called to the Sherwood home after the woman found the snake.

“We got called out to a snake that had made itself quite comfortable here in a sewing room,” the snake catcher said.

Snake catcher Jasmine Zeleny explained that the snake was a coastal carpet python that measured at least 2 metres in length.

“They can reach as long as three metres,” she said. “They’re a non-venomous species, and they do very well in an urban environment.”

Jasmine went on to say that the creature was one of the most commonly caught snakes in Brisbane that fed on things like rats and possums. When asked how the snake got into the house, she said, “Sometimes it’s as simple as leaving the door to the room open.”

Needless to say, social media users were disturbed at the thought of a snake hiding in the closet.

“That gives me the heebie jeebies,” one user said, another one adding, “This is not a sewing room. It is a storage area in need of help.”

“Just the motivation I need to declutter,” a third user wrote. “I think I’ll spend tomorrow getting rid of everything I haven’t needed in the past year.”

I have to say that I agree with this user! If that’s not motivation to clean up your home, I don’t know what is!

What would you do if you found a snake in your house? Let us know in the comments section.
