As the United States is recovering from Hurricane Michael, across the globe in Australia, they’re facing their own weather disasters. A mother near Queensland, Australia, has the bruises to prove what she’s been through.

Fiona Simpson used her body as a shield when a supercell tornado generated massive hail. The storm pelted her car so hard with tennis-ball sized hail that it broke out the windows on her car.

She says the noise was so loud she couldn’t hear her baby in the back seat, but she could see her screaming. The back glass had been shattered and her baby was being exposed to the storm.

Without hesitation, Simpson climbed into the back seat and used her own body to shield her baby from the storm. The hail pounded her body as she waited on the storm to pass.

The passenger window where her grandmother was seated also was blown out and her arm is badly bruised and damaged from the hail. Luckily, everyone made it out alive, but it was a harrowing experience that they won’t soon forget.

Check out the video below to learn more about the damaging weather in Australia and to hear of Simpson’s story, and be sure to share it with your family and friends. These folks need our prayers.
