We all know that old people can be really amazing and witty sometimes so it is best not to mess with them. This is exactly what John learned when he went to visit his 90-year-old grandfather in rural West Virginia.

After spending the evening chatting away, John’s grandfather prepared a breakfast of bacon, eggs, and toast. However, John noticed that there was a film on the plate and asked his grandfather if the plates were clean.

They’re as clean as cold water can get them. Go ahead and finish your meal, was all his grandfather replied. For lunch, the old man made hamburgers. Again, the plates appeared to have tiny specks around the edges that looked like dried eggs.

John asked again if the plates were clean. “I told you before,” said his grandfather. “They’re as clean as cold water can get them. I don’t want to hear another word about it.”

Later that afternoon John headed to a nearby town, but as he was leaving his grandfather’s dog started to growl and wouldn’t let him pass. John yelled at his grandfather, “Your dog won’t let me get to my car.”

Without taking his eyes off the football game on television, the old man shouted, “Coldwater, go lay down now. Ya here me!”
