Cole and Jordan Dickerson had always dreamed about raising a family, and adoption was always part of their plan. So when Jordan found out about a little boy that desperately needed a family, she begged Cole for the chance to make him part of their family.

Sadly, their were other plans in store for the Dickerson family. Cole shared their emotional story about how they finally came to adopt their son Jeremiah, and what happened the very same day.

He explained that Jordan works at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, and one day she said there was the cutest little boy there that didn’t have a family to take care of him.

Then one day she texted him and said, “Babe, will you seriously pray and think about something?” He says he knew that there was something serious on her heart.

They had talked before about adopting one day and even took the classes that were required by the organization that the little boy was involved with. They talked to DCS and found out it was nearly impossible to foster  a specific child that you aren’t already related to.

To bring the little boy home it would take a miracle. During the process, another couple came and began fostering the little boy. It broke the Dickerson’s hearts because they had already bonded with him.

While on their one-year anniversary trip, someone from Jordan’s work called her and explained that Jeremiah had been brought back to the hospital. Due to other reasons, the couple had decided they weren’t going to keep caring for him. They immediately knew it was the work of God and one day they’d be a family.

When Jordan and Cole returned from their trip, Jeremiah’s social worker wanted to meet with Jordan to make sure the couple was serious about fostering to adopt. Finally, after jumping through all the hoops, they were able to bring him home in June 2017.

In July 2018, they were officially able to adopt their son and make Jeremiah an official part of their family. In April 2018, Jeremiah prayed one night and thanked God for his Mommy and Daddy, and then thanked God for his baby sister.

Cole and Jordan couldn’t believe what he had said. “That’s not really how it works, bud,” they told him. But just a couple weeks later, the duo found out that Jordan was pregnant, and a short time later they found out that Jeremiah was right. He was going to have a sister!

The very same day that Jeremiah found out that he was officially adopted, they also revealed to him that he was going to be a big brother. Jeremiah was spot on about God giving him a sister, and now their family is growing by one more.
