Chow Yun-Fat is a movie star from Hong Kong, but the 63-year-old recently made an announcement that has shocked everyone. He says he will be giving away his entire fortune to charity.

The celebrity and philanthropist has starred in movies like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, A Better Tomorrow,  and The Replacement Killers.

He has accumulated a whopping $714 million over the course of his career, but still livers a very modest lifestyle. Reportedly he only spend about $100 per month.

He doesn’t drive luxury sports cars or live in a mansion. Instead, he buys his clothes at thrift stores, takes public transit, and had the same cell phone for 17 years. He and his wife prefer eating at food stalls over fancy restaurants.

He and his wife say that they plan to give their fortune away to multiple charities, including their own charity that they have managed for several years. The couple has no children.

“My dream is to be a happy and normal person,” Yun-Fat has said. “The hardest thing in life is not about how much money you earn, but how to keep a peaceful mindset and live the rest of your life in a simple and carefree manner.”

I think he might be on to something. What do you think? Share this remarkable story with your family and friends. I think we could all learn a thing or two from Yun-Fat.
