When U.S. Army veteran Willie Shelton was diagnosed with terminal cancer, he had just one last wish: to have the chance to walk each one of his seven daughters down the aisle. His family knew that the chances of him actually getting to do this were sadly very slim, but that did not stop them from making his dream come true.

In only three days, Willie’s wife Cheryl and their seven daughters teamed up with LifeCare Hospice, David’s Bridal, a local hair salon, and a professional photographer to make the Army veteran’s final wish a reality. Willie thought he would just be giving his daughter Emily during a vow renewal ceremony, but he was actually about to do a whole lot more than just that!

Willie had been told that his six other daughters would be serving as Emily’s bridesmaids during the backyard ceremony, so he was shocked when each of his daughters came out of the house wearing wedding dresses! Each of the girls looked breathtakingly beautiful in their white gowns!

The proud father was confused at first, but then he realized what was happening, and he was incredibly touched. He was helped out of his wheelchair so that he could stand with all seven of his girls and fulfill his final wish.

Willie tragically passed away less than two weeks later.

Each of his seven daughters were given a locket made with a photo of their father with them in a wedding dress, and the words, “a father’s love never ends,” engraved on the back. They will always remember their father as a loving family man who put his life on the line to serve his country by fighting in Iraq.
