We all know what it’s like getting stuck and feeling like you’re trapped. That’s how one little baby duckling felt one day when he got stuck in the hippo pool at the zoo. That is, until some unlikely heroes rescued him.

The duckling was in a shallow pond at the Blijdorp Zoo in the Netherlands. He cried and cried for his mother and siblings who were already up on the shore. People watched in awe as the rescue efforts began, but it wasn’t humans that came to the rescue.

Two hippos saw the little duck struggling and quickly swam over to it. While some worried what the hippos would do, they were nothing but gentle and patient with the baby.

Of course, the baby duckling didn’t know what they were going to do so it flapped its wings and tried to run from them. And you can’t really blame him, I’d run too if hippos were coming towards me!

But these gentle giants had nothing of the best intentions. They were patient and gentle and eventually the duckling realized they were there to help. Finally, they lift the baby out of the water and he runs unharmed back to his family.
