We’ve all been told for years that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. We know that eating the wrong breakfast or missing the meal entirely can wreak havoc on our energy, focus, and metabolism.

Unfortunately, many people opt to eat cereal that they believe is a good start to their day. However, nutritionists say that many cereals lack the proper nutrients to fuel your body and mind and get your day off to a good start.

Registered dietitians actually recommend something else in the place of cereal that you’d probably never think of…pizza. You must be dreaming, right? Nope. Pizza can actually make a very healthy breakfast.

A healthy meal should include a good balance of carbohydrates, fat, and protein, and pizza checks all the boxes. While it isn’t necessarily the healthiest of these nutrients, it does contain all three and can help keep you full and satisfied.

Pizza can be high in sodium and fat, but their are healthy options out there. Dietitians recommend getting pizza with a whole wheat or cauliflower crust. Top it with red sauce for antioxidants and less fat. Then add plenty of vegetables and lean meats.

Plus, if you’re going to eat pizza, they recommend doing it early in the day. Dietitians recommend eating the European way with your largest meal first and a smaller meal in the evening.

Who knew that pizza can actually be considered a good breakfast food? Be sure to share this fantastic news with your family and friends.
