Last week, Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers sat down with sports talk host Dan Patrick for an interview, and he left him stunned when he revealed something about his large family.

Rivers has always been outspoken about his strong Catholic faith. The NFL star has eight children with his high school sweetheart-turned-wife Tiffany, whom he married when he was just 19 and she was 18. Patrick was stunned when Rivers revealed that he wants more children!

“We were trying to bet on how many kids you have now,” Patrick said with a laugh. “I went with eight.”

“You’re on it!” Rivers responded.

“You got eight?” asked Patrick, with Rivers replying, “You nailed it. Six girls and two boys.”

When Patrick asked if Rivers was done procreating, he emphatically responded, “Heck no! I hope not.”

Patrick expressed skepticism that Tiffany would agree, saying, “I should talk to your wife. Does your wife know that you want to have more?”

“Oh yeah, she’s all in,” said Rivers.

“Six girls?” Patrick asked.

“Yeah, six girls,” the football player answered. “But I’ll tell you what, the three oldest are girls. Now they’re 16, 13, and 12, so we have a lotta little mamas in the house, helping out.”

“My God!” exclaimed Patrick incredulously.

“It’s awesome,” Rivers said.

Patrick went on to joke that Rivers’ daughters probably think he’s “stupid,” seemingly eluding to the stereotype of the dopey dad in modern American sitcoms.

“No,” Rivers laughed. “Well, sometimes. Just in general, you know, like ‘Dad!'”

Last year, Rivers opened up about his Christian faith, saying that he made his “own” when he went away to college.

“My faith has always been very important to me,” explained Rivers. “When I went to college is really when it became my own. I had to get up out of that dorm room and go to church, go to mass on Sunday. That’s when I took ownership of my faith.”

“I think that the center of our marriage and the foundation of our relationship was on Jesus,” he continued. “That is why it’s worked to this point. I hope that God has used me to touch one of you in your faith journey with Jesus.”
