As someone who has been in the public eye for many years, Josh Groban knows all about the highs and lows of being a famous singer. There are numerous privacy issues to fame that the rest of us can never understand, and when this is combined with the everyday stresses of life, things can get overwhelming fast.

This is why Groban just wrote his new song “River” in the hopes of letting his fans know that they are not alone! Groban explained that his inspiration for “River” all had to do with finding the light, even in the darkest of moments.

“Whenever we have dark times in our lives, whether we suffer from depression, or addiction, or anxiety, or even just having a really bad day, the worst is that it feels like we are suffering alone,” Groban said. “Far too many people feel this way… I hope this song and video are a reminder that it’s the simple steps, the smallest gestures, that can pull us back to the light. It’s those things for me. Find your ‘river’.'”

Groban has said that the river is a place where his worries wash away. In the song, he sings, “So I walk down to the river / Where the troubles, they can’t find me / Let the waters there remind me / The sun will be there when we wake.”

The meaning of the song is that everyone is suffering through something, and it’s how we all deal with our pain that is important.
