A woman from Lighthouse Point, Florida was having her kitchen ceiling renovated when workers found something in her ceiling that she was never expecting.

Monique Bourassa Fuchs, 65, said that workers found an envelope filled with photos from the Vietnam War era stuffed between the ceiling and the attic. The photos belonged to U.S. Marine Corps 1st Lt. Robert D. Wells, who served in Vietnam and was a former resident of the home.

“They said, ‘We found that in the attic,'” Bourassa-Fuchs said. “‘Oh,’ I said, ‘That’s cool.’ It’s like a movie, you know?”

Inside the envelope were 64 Vietnam War-era military photos, newspaper clippings from the time period, and a July 9, 1969, letter from former FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover addressed to Wells.

“I thought, ‘Oh my God, I need to find the owner,'” Bourassa-Fuchs continued. “I really would like to find the family. Because these are not my photos.”

Bourassa-Fuchs, who has lived in the home since 1994, immediately took to social media to try and find Wells and his family.

“The first thing, I spent at least five hours on Google,” Bourassa-Fuchs said. “I need to find that guy. It’s his stuff. I need to give it to him. It’s cool. It’s wonderful.”

When Wells was tracked down, he was stunned to learn of the envelope.

“I thought I still had that letter from J. Edgar Hoover,” Wells said. “To tell you the truth, I was shocked he wrote me back. I write to him and I’ll be darned if he didn’t write me back.”

Bourassa-Fuchs is now preparing to meet with Wells in person to give the folder back to him.

“I’m out of my mind and I’m so happy,” she said. “I’m so happy and I just want to meet him to be able to give that to him.”
