On December 13, 2006, the Corsini family received a phone call that changed their lives forever.

Larry Corsini, named after his father, will never forget the moment his sister screamed, “We’ve lost them both!”

After being together for 54 years, 76-year-old Lawrence “Larry” Corsini and his 74-year-old wife, Sharon Corsini, fittingly passed away within hours of each other overnight. Their family said that they would be happy that their lives ended together.

“I was shocked,” Corsini recalled. “But then I thought, of course they went this way.”

The couple’s niece knew something was wrong the next morning when she arrived at their home and nobody answered the door. She called the police, and EMTs found the couple side by side on the bedroom floor. The authorities believe that Sharon, who suffered from many health issues, fell out of bed and that Larry fell as he rushed to help her, suffering a head injury himself.

Larry’s fall led to a massive heart attack, and he died with his head resting on Sharon’s shoulder.

The family has taken great comfort in the two dying together.

“No more suffering and I mean they died right next to each other,” Corsini said. “They were always together in everything they did. They were together in this life for 54 years and now together in passing.”

The family gathered for a joint funeral service in which they reminisced about their parents’ lifelong dedication to serving one another and their community.

“My parents were all about service,” Corsini remembered. “They were quiet, but they loved people by serving people. And they did it all together. We should all do that.”
