A fast-food delivery man is being hailed as a hero after a photo of him helping a 92 year-old woman went viral.

Maris Mayol Tian, of Bacolod City in the Philippines, shared the image online last week after she had food delivered from Jollibee, a Filipino fast-food chain. After she got the delivery, Maris saw her elderly neighbor, who she refers to as “lola,” or “grandmother,” walk outside her house.

“When lola saw him handing me my food at our gate, she called him over and asked him what he does…” Maris wrote. “So when he told her he delivers food that she would want to order, she proceeds by enumerating her order ?

Maris was stunned when she saw the delivery man stop and make the call for her food himself.

“I honestly thought he would just ignore her, laugh and be on his way, but he actually took out his own cellphone, dialed a number, and ordered for her!!!” she recalled.

Maris was so impressed by his small gesture that she has pledged to become a longtime customer at Jollibee, despite having disappointing experiences with them in the past.

“There was a time when I hated Jollibee’s delivery service because they messed up a few times, but now I think I’m going to order more delivery from them.#KudosDeliveryGuy,” she concluded.

Maris later said that she had to rush to grab her phone and almost didn’t make it in time to capture the photo.

“I literally ran inside the house to get my phone and take that photo kay I was very impressed with the service!” she said.

The delivery guy has since been identified as Elpegie Palmares Sicor.

Maris thinks that Elpegie deserves a reward for what he did.

“Not a lot of people show kindness and pay attention to old people, but this guy did and I think that is very commendable and heartwarming,” she said.

Elpegie, however, does not see himself as a hero.

“Life is a journey, make the most out of it,” he said.

This just goes to show how powerful a small act of kindness can be!
