Dawn Wells, who is best known for playing Mary Ann Summers on the classic television show “Gilligan’s Island,” was reportedly stunned when she learned of the GoFundMe page that was set up to help her pay her bills. The fund was set up after it was revealed that Wells is going through a difficult time financially and suffering from health problems.

“Although Dawn won’t deny that she is indeed having a rough time,” her rep said, “she has been keeping her wits about herself and like so many others is doing her best to overcome difficult times.”

The rep went on to say that Wells has not decided whether she will use the funds or return them.

“She was caught completely unaware of her well-intended friend’s creation of a GoFundMe page,” the rep said. “At this time, it has not yet been decided whether she will return the funds so generously donated by her fans and friends or if it will go into a trust/fund that would help alleviate the previously mentioned issues.”

“Either way, this experience has been both embarrassing and humbling for Dawn,” he concluded.

At the time of this writing, the GoFundMe page has raised over $186,000. The page states that Wells is “desperate” for the funds following an “unexpected accident that required hospitalization for two months.”

In the years since “Gilligan’s Island” was on television, Wells has expressed her fondness for her character of Mary Ann.

“I think Mary Ann was – she had been your friend, a companion, there was no bullying, she pitched in and she worked and I think that is what is really necessary today,” she said in 2014.

Please keep Dawn Wells in your thoughts and prayers!
