If you’ve ever thought of surfing, you’re not alone. Some of us, however, can admit that simply sitting on a surf board without falling off is rather difficult much less actually riding the waves.

But one dog named Jojo, not only rides a surfboard, but loves it. Of course, he does have four legs on the board instead of two, but this pooch has practiced a lot and has even won competitions.

Jojo is a corgi, but he didn’t start surfing just for fun. He developed his talent out of the need for therapy. Three years ago, when he was eight-years-old, Jojo and his owner Josephine Zosa were out for a walk when they were attacked.

The two dogs attacked Jojo and he barely made it out alive. Josephine’s hand was attacked, but it was Jojo who had the severe injuries. He was rushed to the vet and underwent emergency surgery. Then he had to spend weeks in rehab to regain his strength.

The rehab therapy involved hydrotherapy and when Josephine’s husband returned from deployment, he took Jojo to the beach and did therapy there. It wasn’t long before Jojo’s surfing had him healthy again.

Jojo got so good at surfing that he competes in contests and recently won the Purina challenge dog competition and came in third place at the Huntington surf dog competition in 2016.

Jojo is also a therapy dog. He volunteers for the military, Scripps Memorial Hospital, rehabs, and elderly homes. He also goes to the city library where the kids read books to him.

His career is far from done as Jojo is due to compete in the Del Mara dog beach contest in September, and we have no doubt that he’ll be amazing.
