When it started to become clear that Josh Wynne’s aging father Mike needed some extra help, he decided to build him a tiny home so that he could maintain his independence.

Naming the home “Mike’s Hammock,” Josh built the house on his own property in Florida so that his father could be close to him. At 604 sq. ft., the home is a little bit larger than the average tiny house, and it features one bedroom, one bathroom and a kitchen and living room area.

When building this house, Josh used many local and recycled products, even sourcing the frame of the house from a construction site. He managed to keep the energy cost low for his dad, with the monthly bill coming in at about $25.

The home is beautifully styled with large open windows, creating a lot of natural light. The open lighting of the home gives the illusion of there being more space in it.

Since Mike suffers from some health issues that limit his mobility, Josh made sure that the home was equipped to handle wheelchairs and walkers. The shower has a fold-down seat and a grab bar, and all the cabinets in the home can be accessed from low angles.

On top of all that, Josh decided to plant three trees for every tree material he had to use on the house. It’s clear that this guy really cares about the environment!
