Debbie Murphy is a huge fan of the pop singer Pink, so she was ecstatic back in June of 2018 when she got the chance to go to one of her concerts in Brisbane, Australia. Sadly, just a few weeks before the show, Debbie passed away.

Debbie’s 14-year-old daughter Leah decided that she still wanted to go to Pink’s concert in her mom’s honor, despite the loss of her beloved mother still fresh on her mind. She knew that this is what her mother would have wanted her to do!

Leah’s family tried to contact Pink before the concert to let her know what happened to Debbie, but they did not hear anything back.

When she got to the concert, Leah held a sign in the hopes that Pink would see it. The sign read, “My name is Leah — I’m 14 years old. I lost my beautiful Mum last month. I would LOVE a hug… Please!”

The other people at the concert saw Leah’s sign and rallied behind her, doing everything they could to make sure that Pink saw it. When Pink noticed the sign, she squinted and said, “OK, what is that?!”

As soon as Pink realized what the sign said, her face filled with compassion. Without saying a word, she walked into the crowd and approached Leah. She proceeded to hug the young girl as she cried in her arms.

“We ended up at the front row and Pink just held her for … it felt like 20 seconds. And Leah’s only 14, she’s a teeny-tiny little thing and she just sobbed uncontrollably in her arms. Pink was just so genuine, she said, ‘hey, don’t cry, everything’s going to be okay’. I haven’t seen her smile so much since. Her dad said he woke up feeling happy today, happier than he has been in a long time.”
