What started out as a leisurely day at the beach turned into a rescue mission for one Newfoundland dog when his little human sister took a tumble into the ocean.

The two were frolicking in the water when a big wave washed over the little girl and sent her tumbling. The big dog didn’t hesitate and quickly stepped in to be her hero.

According to experts, Newfoundlands make great family pets. They are incredibly patient, loyal, and will tolerate even the most energetic of children. They are known for being one of the best breeds for children.

Keep in mind though, that these gentle giants can also be messy. They shed, drool, and love to cuddle, so if slobbery dog kisses aren’t your thing, they may not be the best addition to your family.

Fortunately, for this little girl, her Newfoundland was right there when she needed him and her mom caught it all on video. Though she was giggling the entire time, his “mission” was clear.
