A man recently moved to a new town, and though everything seemed like it was perfect for him, he felt like something was missing from his life. That’s why he headed to his local animal shelter to find a dog companion for himself.

When he got there, he met a black Lab named Reggie who desperately needed a home, but the two did not hit it off right away. The shelter told the man that Reggie might need two weeks to adjust to his new home, but after taking the dog for that period of time, the man decided that it was not working out.

The man did not know if it was because they were too much alike, or if it was because Reggie was having too much trouble adjusting, he just knew that it wasn’t working. It was only when he started going through Reggie’s stuff as he prepared to bring him back to the shelter that he found something that he had forgotten about. It was a letter from Reggie’s former owner. The shelter had given the man the letter when he took Reggie home, but he quickly forgot about it.

He had no idea that this letter would dramatically change both of their lives forever.

How sweet is that?! I could not help but cry when I read this touching letter. It’s safe to say that Tank has now found the forever home that he needed!
