Doodle expert and consultant graphologist Tracey Trussell claims that our doodles can say a lot about who we are and what we are going through in life.

Tracey explained that everything from the shapes we draw to the color ink we use can reveal a lot about us. For example, an arch shape in doodles indicates that the drawer is secretive, while retracing over a doodle in the same spot indicates that someone is overworked.

Criss-cross doodles are a sign that the drawer is anxious, while straight lines reveal that the drawer is a “no-nonsense” type of person.

“Doodles are like little maps that guide us in the exploration of people’s psyches,” Tracey said. “They are created casually – usually when the doodler is concentrating on something else – by the complete free-flow of uninhibited symbols, ‘live and direct’ from the subconscious. This means they’re the outward expression of our unconscious thoughts, and not intended for any particular recipient or for any specific use.”

Ambitious people typically draw triangles and pointed shapes, according to Tracey. She also said that square doodles indicate that the drawer is an organized person who likes being in control.

Flowers are mostly drawn by loyal people who value their relationships. However, flowers that are carefully drawn can indicate that the drawer is obsessive-compulsive. Drawing faces can mean a couple different things. Self-portraits indicate the drawer is egotistical, but drawing other people suggests that the drawer is more of a people person.
