A Walmart in Covington, Tennessee had to close for around six hours on Monday morning after a raccoon got into the store and managed to evade capture.

Customers arrived at the store only to be told by employees waiting outside that the store would be closed until the raccoon was captured.

“There was a raccoon running loose in the store,” a customer said.

Employees called a wildlife removal service to come to the store and get the raccoon, but officials with the service had a difficult time catching him.

“It’s a little raccoon, but it’s a wild raccoon. It wanted to get out before somebody got hurt,” a customer said.

Though some customers were willing to wait, others gave up.

“I’ll just go to Kroger and get my dog food,” one man said. “They’ll never catch it.”

One customer even offered to help catch the animal!

“I was just going to tell them I can bring my coondog out here and find it for them,” the customer said.

Finally, the raccoon was caught and the store reopened around noon. A Walmart spokesman said that nobody was injured by the raccoon.

We’re glad to see that this story had a happy ending! It’s so funny that one little raccoon could cause so much trouble in a store! In the end, no harm no foul, and the customers and employees all had a good story to brighten up their Mondays.
