One day as Dan O’Grady was driving his semi-truck down a highway in Jacksonville, Florida, he spotted a little abandoned dog on the side of the road. He felt guilty for passing the little guy by, so he exited the freeway and headed back.

Luckily, nothing had happened to little dog. It was a Jack Russell terrier that was skinny and wouldn’t let Dan get near him. Instead, the dog led Dan into the woods. The truck driver says it was clear that the dog wanted to show him something.

Dan followed the dog into the brush and when the dog stopped at a bush, Dan looked down underneath it to see a white domestic rabbit huddled in fear. Dan picked up the rabbit and then the dog was happy to go with him too.

He put them in his truck and named the dog Highway and the bunny Interstate. He contacted a local animal shelter, but upon arrival discovered that the facility didn’t take rabbits. They took in Highway, but Interstate had to go somewhere else.

Dan remembered seeing rabbits at another humane society so he gave them a call. They agreed to help Interstate. Dan bought a crate and supplies for Interstate and headed to the Humane Society of Summit County.

The happy story doesn’t end there though. Highway was quickly adopted from a shelter in Georgia, and Interstate found a forever home too! How lucky are these two to have found Dan when they did? Be sure to share this happy story with your friends and family.
