There’s nothing worse for a parent than losing a child. Unfortunately, singing legend Tina Turner is currently living this nightmare after her son Craig Turner committed suicide at the age of 59.

Last week, Tina laid her son to rest in an emotional ceremony.

Tina was just 18 when she gave birth to Craig, who she had with Kings of Rhythm saxophonist Raymond Hill. Craig was adopted by Ike Turner in 1962 when his mother married him, and he took his last name.

Tina has admitted that Craig had a sad childhood, as Ike abused both him along with Tina.

“They saw the black eyes,” she told Oprah Winfrey about her kids in 2005. “Ike’s children never reacted, but my oldest son, Craig, was a very emotional kid.”

“He’d always look down in sadness. One day when Ike was fighting me, Craig knocked on the door and said, ‘Mother, are you all right?’” Tina recalled. “I thought, ‘Oh, please, don’t beat me at home.’ I didn’t want my children to hear.”

Tina now lives in Switzerland, but she returned to America after Craig’s death to scatter his ashes during a boat trip off the California coast.

“My saddest moment as a mother,” Tina wrote on Twitter. “On Thursday, July 19 2018, I said my final goodbye to my son, Craig Raymond Turner, when I gathered with family and friends to scatter his ashes off the coast of California. He was fifty-nine when he died so tragically, but he will always be my baby.”

Tina has three more children who are still alive: Ronnie, from her marriage to Ike, and Ike’s sons Ike Jr. and Michael, who were from a previous marriage but were adopted by Tina.

Please keep Tina and her family in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time!
