Cats and dogs are often made out to be mortal enemies. Just think of the cartoon “Tom and Jerry” that depicts a rivalry between Tom and one of the neighborhood dogs. But some dogs and cats prove that not all dogs and cats are enemies.

Some dogs and cats prove that not only are they far from enemies, but they may even be friends. If they’re the same size, they can make the perfect cuddle buddies when it’s time to lay down and take an afternoon nap.

Even if they’re not the same size, they can still curl up together. In some of these adorable pics you can see the tiniest kitten being loved on by some of the biggest dogs. Who better to protect you when you’re a tiny baby than the biggest dog around?

But it’s not always the dog that is the protector. A few of the pics show a cat lovingly curled up around the back side of their canine companion. While cats may not be as equipped to protect a dog as a dog would a cat, I’ve seen some cats that are pretty spry and fiesty.

These unlikely buddies also look out for each other. One picture shows a cat helping its blind companion find his way around after he’d gone blind from age and struggled to do things on his own. Another shows a cat soothing his canine friend when she was forced to wear a cone after surgery.

Some cats and dogs even team up and work together to get into things that they probably shouldn’t be doing, but definitely wouldn’t be able to do without the help of the other. For example, drinking out of the water dispenser in the fridge and snagging snacks from on top of the counter.
