If you’ve been following the news at all lately, you’ve probably seen that a heartbreaking number of children have died in “hot car” deaths this summer.

Despite knowing the dangers, parents are still locking their children in hot cars while they do things like go shopping, only to return to find that their child has passed away.

When the 6 month-old neighbor of 12 year-old Bishop Curry from McKinney, Texas passed away in a hot car death, he immediately decided to do something in the hopes of ensuring that nobody else would have to go through this.

Bishop ended up inventing a device called the Oasis, which can be attached to a headrest or carseat.

The device will be able to both sense if the child has been left alone and monitor temperature inside the vehicle.

Once the temperature gets high enough, the Oasis will blow out cold air all while also alerting parents and authorities.

Bishop first made a 3-D clay model of the Oasis device in the hopes that he would one day have the funds to make a real version.

Since then, Bishop and his father have raised $50,292 of their $20,000 goal on their GoFundMe page.

This money is being used to manufacture the final product and secure the patent.

Toyota was so impressed by what Bishop and his dad have done that they flew them out to Michigan for a safety meeting!

“People are donating to a belief, a belief that the world can change through one child,” said Bishop’s father, who often says that he works for his son.
