Scott Brown and his wife Get Naka are an active couple who love going on hikes together. That’s why they decided to recently make the trek up the Teneriffe Falls to get a look at the beautiful wintry landscape.

Also known by it’s nickname of the Kamikaze Falls, this 5.4 mile trail is located in the North Bend area of Washington. The highest point 2,370 feet high, and the views it offers are beyond breathtaking.

When Scott and Get got on the trail, they had no idea that a mysterious creature has made his home there, and that he is known for sniffing out newcomers. When he first approaches hikers, he always catches them off guard at first.

When the couple got to the old Tenerife trailhead, they saw a small black creature approaching them. They weren’t quite sure what he was at first…

Scott joked with his wife that the creature was a bear, but it was only when the animal got closer that it became clear that it was just a friendly dog! It turns out that this dog has become known as an official greeter to Kamikaze Falls. The dog walked along with the couple on the trail, and he even warned Scott of danger that was looming ahead.

The couple began to worry that the dog was lost or abandoned, but then they noticed the tag on his collar. This tag read, “Hi, I’m Smokey. I live nearby so please don’t take me. I like to follow hikers sometimes.”

The other side of the tag read, “Don’t worry, I’ll go home when I get tired. My people love me a lot. Thanks for being nice!”

Smokey guided the couple up the trail and then back down it at the end. When they were back at their car, Smokey wandered back to the neighborhood where he lives. Just before he left, he turned around to give Scott and Get one final bark goodbye!

How cute is that?!
