German Shepherds are known for being extremely smart dogs. They’re also known for being tough police dogs and loyal to their owners, but they also have a compassionate side that many people don’t know about.

One German Shepherd named Tennyson, also called Tenny, shows just how gentle the breed can really be when a new sibling was added to his household. You might think that adding a tiny kitten to a household with a German Shepherd might be dangerous, but Tenny proves that’s not the case.

In the video below, you can see Tenny carefully watching the tiny black and white fluff ball as he attempts to make his way up the stairs. Tenny seems concerned with the kitten and you can even hear his mom tell him to let the baby get up the stairs himself.

Tenny watches and tries to be patient, but his caretaker instincts finally get the best of him. Tenny swoops in to rescue the baby and give him a lift to the top of the stairs. Once they make it to the top of the stairs it is easy to see that Tenny had nothing but the kitten’s best interests at heart.
