Dolly Parton says that her faith is the reason why she has persevered over her 72-years of life. Despite her success in the country music business, she says she has endured plenty of heartache and woes.

She has been plagued by gynecological problems and in 1984 underwent a partial hysterectomy and was told she’d never be able to have children. She and her husband, Carl Thomas Dean, has married in 1966 and had wanted a family.

She says she sank into a depression and had to scale back her professional commitments to heal. She also struggled with guilt from an emotional affair that left her heartbroken. She says she grew up around macho men, and she was drawn to that type of man.

Dolly says she was so rattled by her feelings for another man that she even considered suicide. She says she even picked up a gun and looked at it for a while and that’s when her little dog came running up to her. At that moment she started praying to God and begging for his help.

She says it was her faith that saved her marriage. Dolly and Carl even built a small chapel of their own on the grounds of their Tennessee farm. She never lets a day pass by without spending time in prayer.

Dolly says her love for Carl has gotten stronger over the years and there is a lot of passion between them. She still enjoys cooking for him and he still writes her love poems. Despite their ups and downs she says they believe they are a match made in heaven.

What an amazing story of faith and love! Be sure to share this incredible story with your family and friends.
