Doctors are speaking out to warn women to not take part in a bizarre trend that may just make you question where humanity is headed.

Believe it or not, this trend involves using ground-up wasp nests to tighten and rejuvenate their vaginas. Various online retailers have started selling oak galls, which are nests that are full of wasp eggs before they hatch, with the promise that they will help rejuvenate the human vagina if they are placed inside it.

The oak galls are crushed into a paste and applied topically, with one listing on Etsy that has since been removed promising that applying it would improve a woman’s sex life. Other advertisements allege that the paste can “heal episiotomy cuts, rejuvenate the uterine wall and clean out the vagina” after childbirth.

Gynecologist Dr. Jen Gunter is speaking out to warn women about how “dangerous” this practice is, urging them not to take part in it. Gunter explained that the practice is using “drying agents” to tighten the vagina.

“Drying the vaginal mucosa increases the risk of abrasions during sex (not good) and destroys the protective mucous layer (not good),” she warned. “It could also wreak havoc with the good bacteria. This is a dangerous practice with real potential to harm. Here’s a pro-tip, if something burns when you apply it to the vagina it is generally bad for the vagina.”

It never ceases to amaze me the bizarre treatments people are willing to try just to make themselves younger! We would think it would go without saying that shoving a wasp’s nest inside you would be a bad idea, but I guess our current society needed this warning!
