The world sat in wait as the young boys’ soccer team was stuck in a flooded cave in Thailand. Everyone was hoping that the boys would make it out alive, and thanks to the efforts of multiple rescuers, that is exactly what happened.

One of the people that jumped in to help the boys was Dr. Richard Harris who was on vacation in Thailand when he got the news that the boys were trapped. He is a doctor and an experienced cave diver whose expertise played a vital role in the rescue.

Richard, who goes by Harry, joined the boys in the cave and checked on the health of each of them. He stayed with them for three days to monitor them and do everything he could to keep them alive and strong enough to survive the rescue.

He administered sedatives to the boys so they wouldn’t panic as they pulled themselves through the dark, flooded caves. He decided the weakest boys should be rescued first, and the doctor was one of the last people to exit the cave.

Harry is being called a hero, but tragedy struck him when he came out of the cave alive. He found out that his dad had passed away just a short time after the rescue operation had been deemed a success. Although Harry’s family is grieving, he says his dad would have been proud that his son was part of the rescue of the boys.

What a tragic loss to have to deal with after helping with such a long, exhausting rescue. Share this story with your family and friends and be sure to send positive thoughts and prayers to Harry’s family during this time.
