On “America’s Got Talent,” judge Simon Cowell is notoriously difficult to please and bond with. That’s why it came as a huge surprise when 12 year-old Jeffrey Li completely melted his heart!

When he took the stage for his audition, Jeffrey told him that he was lonely and that all he wanted was a dog!

Jeffrey had clearly done his homework, because animals are a soft spot for Simon. A huge dog lover, Simon has many canines of his own at home.

Jeffrey decided to sing the song “You Raise Me Up” by Josh Groban, because he often sings this song when he is feeling alone. The pressure was even higher for Jeffrey, as Simon told him that if he did well in the audition, he would buy him a dog himself.

The young boy ended up handling the pressure even better than most adults would, and he knocked his audition out of the park!

Judge Heidi Klum could not hide her excitement when he finished, as she was positive Jeffrey was going to get a dog! Simon, however, remained coy.

“Well, Jeffrey, talk about stakes!” he said. “12 years old, come out in front of 3,000 or 4,000 people, and you’re singing one of the biggest songs in the world. But I am not going to tell you yet what I think of it, until the very end.”

He then passed the floor to his fellow judges, who each gave Jeffrey a resounding “Yes!”

Simon then had no choice but to admit that he loved the audition, and that Jeffrey would be getting a puppy!
