Having a son or daughter in the military is incredibly stressful for parents, who are constantly left worried about their child’s safety. Heather Almond has been living with this every day since her son enlisted in the U.S. Army.

That’s why Heather jumped at the chance to see her son when he had a weekend off from basic training. When she heard this, Heather got on a plane and headed to Fort Benning in Georgia to see him.

Heather took her son out for lunch at a sushi restaurant, and when the check came, they were in for a huge surprise!

“This weekend I went to visit my son at Fort Benning with my daughter and mother. He is at basic training and it was a family weekend,” she wrote in a viral Facebook post. “He loves sushi, so we found a Japanese restaurant.”

“We probably ordered $100 worth of food and when we went to pay, the waitress said that the people at the other table had picked up or bill and they said to thank your son for his service,” Heather continued. “They were gone before I found this out, but I happened to snap a picture of my son that had one of the people in the background. I don’t know who she is, but I can tell you that it meant the world to us. We will find a way to pay it forward.”

These days, members of the U.S. military often don’t get the respect they deserve in this country. This serves as a reminder to always let members of the military know how much we love and respect them for the sacrifices they make for our country!
