As a trucker was traveling in North Carolina along I-95, he saw a brown sedan merge onto the highway. It weaved back and forth among the lanes of the roadway and the truck driver had to shift into a lower gear to avoid getting in an accident.

At first, the trucker was angry and thought the person in the car was drunk, but when he came closer he realized inside the car was an old man that was shaking uncontrollably. He noticed that the car had a Citizen’s Band antenna whipping in the wind so he called to the driver on his radio. “You in the brown Chevy. If you can hear me, pull over. Pull off the road,” said the trucker.

Shockingly the man in the brown sedan had heard the trucker and pulled off to the side of the road. The trucker pulled up behind the car and climbed down out of his truck. The elderly gentleman inside the car staggered from his car and collapsed in the trucker’s arms.

The man explained that he was returning home from the hospital where his daughter, after months of being in pain, had decided that she wanted to cease her treatments. He said he had remained strong for her at the hospital, but lost it once he got in the car and headed home.

The men stood on the side of the road and talked for a good hour, and eventually the distraught father decided he felt good enough to drive  home. The men embraced and the trucker followed him for another 50 miles. As they drove, they continued talking together on the radio.

The man finally told the trucker that his exit was ahead and thanked his new friend for all of his help. The trucker asked if he could make it home okay, and suddenly a third voiced piped in on the radio and said, “Breaker 19, don’t worry, good buddy. Go your way. I’ll see him home.”

Glancing in his rear view mirror, the trucker saw a livestock truck move into the exit lane behind the elderly man’s brown sedan.

This is proof that there are still good people in the world. Some of them may be strangers and some of them may be your own family. But it’s awesome to know that there are still good people that are willing to lend a listening ear and a warm embrace. They appear like angels to lift us up and put us back on our feet when we need it the most.

There’s probably someone in your life right now that needs to hear a story like this, so please share this with them and give them hope.
