Have you ever seen someone wear an outfit that does not seem to match their age? For some, it can be uncomfortable to see someone attempting to dress like a “hip” teenager or twenty-something when they’re actually nearing retirement age.

One fashion advisor has particularly strong opinions about this when it comes to denim jeans.

UK-based parcel company CollectPlus decided to get to the bottom of what the cut-off age should be for people wearing jeans by sending out a survey out to nearly 2,000 people across the United Kingdom. The results they got back were certainly very interesting…

The results of the study found that the majority of those surveyed stated that if you are 53 years-old or older, you should stop wearing jeans. Those who responded to the survey said that the reason for this is that it’s too difficult to find jeans that have a good fit for older people.

24 percent of people who were surveyed said that they are no longer able to find jeans that fit, with 6 percent of them saying they end up in tears whenever they look for jeans. In addition, 29 percent of respondents said that they had given up looking for jeans altogether because they can’t find any pair that they like.

The survey indicates that shopping for jeans gets to be more stressful as people get older. Older people are often loyal to their blue denim jeans, but finding a pair they like that also looks good can get harder and harder with age. On top of that, jeans have become more expensive over time, leading people of all ages to look for different options.
