Army Specialist Brooks Lindsey was ecstatic when he was given four days of leave so that he could go home to watch his wife give birth to their child, as he did not want to miss this occasion for anything in the world!

As Brooks waited for his flight to Dallas, his wife suddenly went into labor, and it seemed that he would miss the birth altogether. At the last minute, however, something amazing happened that he was never expecting!

Members of the military and their families make numerous sacrifices for our country, and originally, missing his child’s birth was going to be one of the sacrifices that Brooks had to make. In most situations, soldiers can be allowed to go home by the Red Cross for an official medical emergency. Brooks’ wife Haley had a perfect pregnancy for months until her blood pressure skyrocketed.

Because of Haley’s pre-eclampsia, the baby became stressed, so doctors decided to induce her. She begged the Red Cross to let her husband come home, so they finally gave him four days of leave. He was scheduled to fly from El Paso, Texas, to Dallas, then to Jackson, Mississippi.

However, on the morning of Brooks’ flight, Haley’s water broke and she went into labor. Luckily, Brooks’ flight to Jackson was delayed, so he was able to watch his wife go into labor and be there with her through FaceTime on his phone!

Brooks sat in the airport encouraging his wife as she tried to push the baby out, but just as the newborn was starting to crown, his flight started to board!

“All I remember was my Doctor screaming ‘Don’t let him board the flight! She’s here! She’s here!’” Haley recalled.

By this point, airline staffers were so invested in what was happening that they held the flight so Brooks could watch the rest of the birth. Brooks and his fellow soldiers have made so many sacrifices for us, so the airline and his fellow passengers wanted to take this opportunity to give something back!

When Brooks’ daughter Millie was finally born, the airport erupted into cheers!

The story and video accompanying it have since gone viral, and Brooks and Haley have been overwhelmed with the love and support they have received from people all over the world.

“I have the sweetest messages and I also have other military wives and mothers messaging me about how I got in touch with Red Cross and got him home and any tips,” Haley said in a statement. “We had random people bringing gifts to our rooms and nurses coming in and thanking Brooks for his service! It has been an amazing, emotional time full of so much support!”

Brooks eventually made it home and had time to bond with his baby girl before he had to head back to the service.

We’re so glad to see this airline do something to help this soldier when he needed it most! Check out video of what happened below, and SHARE this story so your friends and family can see this as well!
